Unleash the next reality in Fintech at Barclays
We wanted to position Barclays as a top tech employer. To do this we had to create the look and feel of a Fintech start up to grab attention from a young audience of prospective graduates, interns and apprentices in the UK and the US.
We created a sub brand that would work alongside the main Barclays brand to talk specifically about Fintech giving it more of a focus. Then we created a proposition giving students the chance to unleash the next reality and threaded it through a campaign that used social media, a stand-out holographic on-campus experience and a programme of brand ambassador marketing driven by social media influencers. New social channels were set up to generate news and act as a go to source for interested applicants.
The focus of the activity was all about giving students the chance to unleash the next reality whether that be in AI, blockchain, cyber security or big data. So we brought that to life through a unique competition and kickstarting platform – and to publicise it we enlisted the support of social media influencers to post about it as well as using Barclays existing social media channels.
Our TNR competition invited students to pitch their ideas for what the next reality in Fintech might be. It gave them the chance to work with, and be mentored, by our iconic influencers, to develop their idea as part of a team and ultimately pitch it to a panel of experts for the chance to win £5000 to share equally amongst their team, plus membership of RISE London, Europe’s largest co-working Fintech space.

We created additional holographic content for a VIP section of our TNR hub and gave students who came to our events their very own hologram viewer, which they could place on their phones to view this premium content.
